Meet our Kids
We will feature stories of children who live with congenital heart defects. You can learn about their lives; their triumphs and hardships.
Baby Grace
It was my birthday, and our family was waiting to hear the news on the gender of our fourth child with excitement and anticipation. ‘It’s a girl’ we heard the sonographer declare and our other three kids started to cheer. We were pleased and felt complete as we saw all her working parts--fingers and toes wiggling around on the screen. I’d been through a few of these before, but this one started to seem especially long, and I started to get a little impatient because she couldn’t get a good picture of the baby’s heart. Finally she sent us on our way, and said we’d probably have to come back again sometime for another ultrasound. I thought it was no big deal, things like that happen all the time, don’t they?
3rd family to participate - Julianna Ladas
Hi, my name is Julianna Ladas and I wanted to share our story as the 3rd family to participate in the fetal intervention program at Boston Children's Hospital. And what a journey it was! Our story begins back in March of 2003. At 25 weeks into our 4th pregnancy, during a routine ultrasound, we were told that the baby was "not cooperating" and they were not getting a good view of her heart so they wanted to send us to a hospital in Chicago for a level 2 ultrasound just to be sure all was good.
A Journey of the Heart - Ethan Markus Lindberg
Our story begins just as many others do. With the joy of discovering we were having a baby. Newly married, we were eager to start a family and in October 2004 we found out we would be welcoming a new baby the following summer. At the suggestion of my wonderful OBGYN at Northwestern in Chicago, I agreed to all the prenatal testing just be sure everything was okay.
